Izmael Pacheco
Pianist, Conductor & Composer
Born in Costa Rica, M.M. Izmael Pacheco is an acclaimed pianist, orchestral conductor, singer, and composer whose artistry bridges classical tradition and contemporary innovation. With a career that spans solo performance, orchestral leadership, and composition, he stands as one of the most versatile and accomplished musicians of his generation.
Izmael is the Founder and Principal Conductor of the Orquesta de Costa Rica, leading the ensemble in major national and international events, including the Eurochestries Festival 2022 (France), where he also conducted the International Eurochestries Orchestra, featuring over 170 musicians from France, Spain, Costa Rica, and Mexico. He has directed performances at Costa Rica’s most prestigious venues, such as the National Theatre, Teatro Melico Salazar, and Teatro Eugene O’Neill, and has collaborated with renowned figures including Kohei Tanaka (One Piece, Pokémon, Dragon Ball) and Japanese vocalist Shihori.
As a concert pianist, Izmael made history at just eleven years old when he debuted at Carnegie Hall, becoming the first Costa Rican pianist to perform there. Since then, he has appeared in world-renowned halls such as Musikverein (Vienna) and the United Nations (Vienna), performing across Europe and the Americas. His repertoire combines deep classical mastery with expressive contemporary flair, from Beethoven and Chopin to Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, which he performs with remarkable virtuosity.
Beyond classical performance, Izmael has collaborated with major Latin American artists and groups, including Pedro Capmany, Balerom, Percance, and Editus, as well as international acts such as Sofía Reyes, Mau & Ricky, and Marconi (Warner Music). As a composer and producer, he has received the ACAM Award (2021) in the Contemporary Classical category and has served as musical director for stage productions including The Last Five Years. In 2025, he co-founded Ars Nova Eventos, a production company specializing in orchestral and artistic events.
Izmael holds a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance from the University for Music and Performing Arts in Viennaand a Bachelor’s Degree from the National University of Costa Rica. He has received advanced training through masterclasses at The Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, Peabody Institute, and the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, studying under legendary pianists including György Sándor and Van Cliburn.
Currently based in Costa Rica, Izmael speaks fluent English — having studied, performed, and conducted masterclasses across the United States — and holds a valid U.S. B1 visa. His artistry, professionalism, and international experience make him an exceptional candidate for classical pianist or conductor positions aboard luxury cruise lines and global concert venues.
